Our Programs
HEC offers a variety of programs to provide customers with added convenience, improve energy efficiency (and decrease energy costs), and assist those who may have difficulty paying their energy bills. Below is an overview of the programs we currently offer:
Landlord/Rental Property
The Landlord Program is designed for owners and/or managers with rental property. Participation in this program will ensure service is always available at your rental unit without the need to call or visit our office each time a tenant vacates.
Energy Share
The Energy Share Program is designed to assist those in need with paying their heating bills. We offer two options for customers wishing to make donations to this program and all donations are tax-deductible.
Energy Audits & Weatherization
HEC offers home energy audits to all our residential homeowners with electric heat or an electric heat pump. For income-qualifying homes, we've partnered with Community Housing Partners (CHP) Energy Solutions to provide weatherization upgrades in addition to an audit.
Energy Save & Earn
Earn a rebate from HEC on select Energy Star qualified and energy-efficient appliances purchased in the last 90 days.
Tree Replacement
Harrisonburg Electric Commission offers a “Tree Replacement Program” to all qualifying customers within the City of Harrisonburg.
Security Lighting
Harrisonburg Electric Commission offers its customers the security of additional lighting installed on their property that automatically comes on at dusk and goes off at dawn.
