Utility Deposit Assistance Program (UDAP)

The Utility Deposit Assistance Program (UDAP) allows full-time James Madison University students to have electric service without paying a security deposit. The UDAP contract expires on July 31st each year. Students who need electric service after July 31st must purchase a new UDAP.

If you wish to participate in this program, you must:

  1. Be a full-time degree-seeking JMU student in good standing (no holds).
  2. Purchase a UDAP contract online or at the Off Campus Life office on the 2nd Floor of The Festival, Room 2107
  3. Apply for electric service at our office, over the phone, through the mail or online. The electricity account must be in the name of the UDAP contract holder.

Students on the UDAP program are required to keep their electric bills paid on time. The UDAP contract can also be used with the City of Harrisonburg for water and sewer services and with Columbia Gas for gas services. If you need further information on this program, please contact a Customer Service Representative at (540) 434-5361 or contact the UDAP coordinator for JMU at (540) 568-6071.
