You may pay your electric bill in person by visiting The Harrisonburg Electric Commission office between 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. We are closed Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.

By Mail
You may pay your electric bill through the US Postal Service by mailing payment along with the remittance copy of your bill. Please return this portion with your payment in the pre-addressed envelope included with your bill, payable to Harrisonburg Electric Commission. Please put your account number on your check or money order. For your protection do not send cash through the mail.

Drop Box
We have two drop boxes in the city; one is located next to the HEC drive thru window at 89 West Bruce Street. The second drop box is located at the City Municipal Building. Payments dropped after 2:00 P.M. will be posted next business day.
Bank Draft
Harrisonburg Electric Commission offers electronic transfer from your bank, savings and loan, or credit union account. The Customer will receive a regular monthly bill for their review and on the date the bill is due (normally 20 days from the billing date) the amount of the bill will be automatically deducted from their bank account. The Bank Draft Option eliminates the need to worry about late payment charges, paying a bill when you are out of town, and added costs of checks and postage. Harrisonburg Electric Commission does not charge for this service.
If you are a new customer with the Harrisonburg Electric Commission enrolling in the Bank Draft Option in lieu of placing a deposit, you must remain on the program for one year and you must enroll in the program within 30 days of applying for service. Failure to do so will result in a deposit charge of $150.00 to your account. Your signature on the form below signifies your agreement to remain on the Bank Draft Option for one year.
If you are interested in the Bank Draft Option, simply print out and complete the PDF below and mail it, along with a voided check, to Harrisonburg Electric Commission, 89 West Bruce Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801-3699
You will be notified on your bill when the Bank Draft Option becomes effective. You will need to notify Harrisonburg Electric Commission in writing to discontinue this service.

Credit Cards
You can now pay your electric bill with a VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card. In cooperation with Harrisonburg Electric Commission, Official Payments Corporation (OPC) offers individuals and businesses the opportunity to pay their electric bill by telephone or directly over the Internet.
Official Payments Corporation, the credit card service provider, charges a convenience fee of $4.95. This fee will show as a separate line item on your credit card statement. The Harrisonburg Electric Commission does not receive any convenience fees. You will be informed of the amount of the fee before your transaction is completed and you will have an opportunity to terminate the transaction if you do not wish to accept the charge.
The Harrisonburg Electric Commission would like for you to know that all credit card payments will be posted to your account the next business day. Our office hours: Monday through Friday 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Closed Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
