The Metering and Substation Department
The Metering and Substation Department consists of seven employees who have the responsibility of testing all meters for accuracy before the monthly reading of each installation. The meter reading is done using hand-held mini computers that transfer the meter readings automatically into the billing computer.
Another function of the Metering and Substation Department is the installation, operation and maintenance of the substations that transform the voltage from 69 KV to 23 KV for distribution within the City. There are eight substations on the system that are located close to the load control centers as possible.
